Inspection Report

The great work of our dynamic Principal, all of the staff and our wonderful pupils was affirmed by the recent ETI report which noted the following.

“The strengths of the school include:

  • the inclusive school ethos which fosters a culture of mutual respect and values the individuality of each child;
  •  the positive attitudes and dispositions for learning displayed by most of the children and the steady improvement in the children’s attainment in literacy and numeracy;
  • the good or very good teaching evaluated in a majority of the lessons;
     
  • the clear commitment to capacity building among all of the staff through continued professional development;
     
  • the very good quality of the provision made for children with a wide range of additional learning needs; and
     
  • the vision and very good strategic leadership of the Principal supported effectively by the Vice-Principal and the literacy, numeracy and special educational needs co-ordinators.”

This means that the Inspection Team are so satisfied with the school’s performance , having judged Cranmore against all other schools in Northern Ireland, they have no recommendations for improvement for the school.

In a letter of congratulations received from Katrina Godfrey, the Director of Curriculum, Qualifications and Standards Branch at the Department of Education writes

“Your schools capacity for substantial self improvement is a successful example of the policy and vision set out in ‘Every School a GoodSchool.’ I have noted in particular the Inspector’s comments on the very good quality of the provision made for children with a wide range of additional learning needs; and the vision and very good strategic leadership of the Principal supported effectively by the Vice Principal and by the literacy, numeracy and special education needs co-ordinators. These are examples of the sort of good practice we are keen to disseminate and encourage among all schools.”

 

So the answer to the question ‘Is Cranmore a good school’ is no – it’s actually ‘a very good school!’
